Stellar choirs start here.
Dr. Judy Bowers and Beverly Escuder
Dr. Judy Bowers has been a music educator for over 50 years. She spent the last 30 years of her career training choral directors as a professor of Choral Music Education.
Before working in academia, though, she was a public school choral director. She has worked with ensembles ranging from children to senior citizens, but she has a special fondness for middle schoolers. She is passionate about making choir accessible for everyone and has shared her tools and approaches with thousands of teachers over the years through clinics, presentations, and by speaking at conferences all over the world. Now, she wants to reach even more teachers and is thrilled to be able to do that through Choir Talk, your online choral music teaching resource.
If you really want to geek out and learn about all of Dr. Bowers’ credentials, publications and accomplishments, you can read her full Curriculum Vitae here.
Beverly Escuder studied Choral Music Education under Judy Bowers at Florida State University. Over the last 20 years she has directed choirs in public and private schools as well as church and community groups. She got her love of working with developing singers from Dr. Bowers who is not only her mentor but also her mom! She is excited to join the Choir Talk team to share developmental teaching with the world.
